Getting Pets in Monster Hunter World
When you first arrive at the resource center in Monster Hunter World, you’ll soon be introduced to your room and personal quarters. This is where you can sort through your item box, organize your Palico’s equipment, and interact with your roommates and housekeeper. However, you can also keep pets here if you want.
Before doing that, however, you’ll need to actually have a pet first. Pets are essentially smaller animals that you can encounter out in the open world. Examples of pets in Monster Hunter World include shepherd hares, carrier ants, and grasshoppers. To capture them, simply cycle through your inventory to equip your capture net. Ready the capture net by holding down the L2 button (or LT on Xbox One), and then releasing it with the R2 button (RT on Xbox One), just like how you’d control the slinger. If your aim is accurate, you’ll be able to snag a small animal, and a tooltip will pop up on the right side of the screen to indicate the details of the animal you caught.
Back in your room, talk to the housekeeper and you’ll see an option to display a pet. Choose your preferred animal from the list, and that animal will start hanging around your room.
Be sure to check our wiki for more information on Monster Hunter World.
While hunting is an important part of Monster HUNTER, there’s also a lot more to it than that. MHWorld just goes to prove this, by the addition of endemic life. Basically, they’re pets you can have inside of your house and some of them are adorable. However, what some people might not have know is that there is rare endemic life, forms of regular life with a different color pallet or even endemic life that’s just really hard to find. With this, I’ll be going over all of them.
A couple things to note:
•BE SURE TO HAVE THE GHILLIE MANTLE. MOST OF THE ENDEMIC LIFE WILL RUN IF THEY SEE YOU.
•LEAVE YOUR PALICO BEHIND. SOME ENDEMIC LIFE WILL SEE YOUR PALICO AND RUN.
•YOU WILL NOT GET THESE ON YOUR FIRST TRY. YOU WILL HAVE TO GO ON EXPEDITIONS AND CONSTANTLY RELOAD.
•MAKE SURE TO EQUIP THE CAPTURE NET SO YOU CAN ACTUALLY CATCH THEM.

•THIS DOES NOT COVER THE RARE PLANT LIFE. ONLY THE STUFF YOU CAN HAVE AS A PET.
Aaand that’s it. Let’s get into this, then.
Moonlight Gecko:
These little lizards can show up anywhere near brightmoss, nothing specific here. They’re little purple glowy lizards, so they’re super hard to miss. Apparently, they can be found very often in camp 8 of Elder’s Recess.
Pilot Hare:
These can spawn with regular hares, but they’re somewhat rare, it took me a few resets to find one. The area I found them most often right outside of the Northwest camp in the Ancient Forest, however they can also appear in the Wildspire waste. You can find them day or night-it doesn’t matter.
Another good way to find one is to go to the Southwest camp in Wildspire Waste, and jump down into that opening area. From there, run forward towards the apceros. You should see a pilot hare sleeping around that area occasionally- that’s the best way I found. I got two from that.
Dapper Coralbird:
These pink bois can be found with the other coralbirds, and they’re rare apparently because they only come out to attract the f e m a l e s. What I did to find mine was jump down into the beginning area from the Southwest camp in the Coral Highlands. I patrolled this beginning area until I found one-they’re kinda hard to spot, because they’re only tinted a bit pinker than the regular coralbird. There are a lot of Coralbird groups in the first area, so it only took a couple of tries before I got one. Again, the time doesn’t matter.
Wiggler Queen:
The most important thing to know about getting this one is that she will only come out at night in the Coral Highlands. If it’s not nighttime, don’t even bother. Be sure to crouch when you face one, or put on the ghillie mantle. Surprisingly, it only took me two tries to get one. What I did:
Jump down from the Southwest camp, and when you land, automatically turn to the left. Go up the ledge in front of you, and there should be a patch of wigglers there. Repeat this until you find the wiggler queen- she is a regular wiggler with an orangish/pink coloration. Again, MAKE SURE THAT IT IS NIGHTTIME.
Forest Petryx:
This looks like a regular woodland petryx, however with a jade/bluish coloration. It looks pretty nice, actually. Time of day doesn’t matter to capture this guy. Usually, you find petryx in area 5 of the Ancient Forest, and that’s where you can find the Forest Petryx too!
What I do: Start in the Northeast camp of the Ancient Forest, then jump down into area 5. Run all the way down to the other side of the clearing, than check the trees. If there’s no forest petryx there, rinse and repeat. You can check all the trees in the area, but I think that takes too long.
Emerald Helmcrab:
The Emerald Helmcrab can be found in both the Wildspire Waste and the Rotten Vale. I have an easier time finding it in the Wildspire Waste, though. They can be found wherever a regular iron Helmcrab can be found, nothing too complicated. Area 6 of the Rotten Vale is a good place to find one. Time of day doesn’t matter.
Platinumfish:
This fish is found at the Elder’s Recess. He’s over at the area 8 camp, by the crystals where there are a lot of fish. He’s by the corner, close to the wall apparently. He should be pretty easy to get. The time doesn’t matter.
Augerfly:
Apparently this endemic life can be found really anywhere, as long as it’s RAINING. Go to where you find any Omenfly, and look. You can find them in places like area 2 of the Wildspire Waste or by area 11 in the Rotten Vale. Remember, it has to be raining.
Gameplay Approaches. Basics. Deus ex human revolution china. .
Ham radio deluxe download. However, I’ve seen some comments of people saying they’ve found it while it wasn’t raining, so you might just not want to bother with waiting until there’s rain and just go. Personally, I’ve found one down by all the glowy water in the Rotten Vale, and it wasn’t raining obviously. Again, it doesn’t matter what time it is.
Phantom Flutterfly:
This butterfly can be found at any time of day in the Ancient Forest, by the hill where Pukei Pukei likes to roam (area 6). He should be hanging out with all the other butterflies, so it’s nothing super specific to find him.
A good strategy is to start at either the Northwest or Northeast camps, then run to area 6 and check for the butterfly. If it’s not there, rinse and repeat.
Prism Hercudrome:
You can find this one literally anywhere, every single map. He comes during dusk or dawn, and can spawn in places like area 10 of the Wildspire Waste (where the wedge beetles are). I think area 10 is the best way to find them, and it’s relatively quick to get to.
Gold Hercudrome:
Find him in the Ancient Forest or Wildspire Waste. He can be seen at nighttime on logs. If you’re wondering about any log locations, one good one is log nearby area 5/2 of the Wildspire Waste :eyes: it’s upright, and kinda easy to miss but the bug itself is pretty obvious lol.
What to do:
Start at the Southwest camp and run to the forested area. Find the upright log that’s in kinda middle between area 5 and area 2. You should see the log when you run from 5 going towards 2.
Downy Crake:
The floofiest birdo of all- seriously, these guys are adorable. However, they’re kinda elusive and hard to get-HOWEVER, you also get a trophy if you get them. They appear most during Dawn and dusk in the Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste on the backs of herbivores. Herbivores like Apceros, Aptonoth, and Grandfather Mantagrells.
What to do:
Go to the Ancient Forest in the Southwest camp, and from there jump down into the opening area. In there, check all the Aptonoth for the birds on their back. If they aren’t there, then go to Northwest camp. From there, run to area 8 and check the Aptonoths over there. If you still don’t see them, go back to the Southwest camp and repeat the whole process.
Also, you might want to turn up your volume when you’re tying to find them. You can hear them chirping from some distance away.
Bristly Crake:
Monster Hunter World List Of Pets
You can find this..birdo blob on the backs of mosswines, both in the Elder’s Recess and Rotten Vale. In the Elder’s Recess, they can also be on the backs of gastodons. The time doesn’t matter.
What to do:
Start at the Southeast camp, and MAKE SURE TO LEAVE YOUR PALICO BEHIND. Take the left path once you jump down. Run along the left wall until you find a hole entrance-there should be a mosswine there. Put on the ghillie mantle before you get too close so the Crake doesn’t spot you.
If the Crake isn’t there, go to the Central Camp in the Rotten Vale, and run over to the area kinda where the plunderer cats were (area 15) and climb up to the small hallway with the mosswine and the honey. Be sure you still have your ghillie mantle on. If the Crake isn’t there, return from the expedition and start all over again.
Ancient Fish:
Apparently this spawns everywhere, but the most popular method to find it is in the Rotten Vale. Go to the pools by the plunderers (area 15) and run around the pools there until you spot him. Nothing hard at all. Day or night, it doesn’t matter.
King Marlin:
It only spawns in the Ancient Forest. While it is pretty hard to find, a good place is area 4. If it’s not there, then just reload. Seriously, area 4 is the best way to get it. There is no specific time you have to catch it-day or night, it’s fine.
Giant Vigorwasp: Thank you to Thanatos for pointing this one out!
This one can be found in the Ancient Forest, and the most popular spot I’ve seen is the lower part of area 13. It’s basically a really fat vigorwasp lmao.
You can spawn to the closet camp to area 13 (Southwest camp I think?) and make your way up there. When you get there, jump down to the lower layer of the area, and there’s usually a giant vigorwasp there.
I hope this helped you all! If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
If I’ve made a mistake, tell me and I’ll fix it right away. And also alert me of spelling errors if you see anything.
